Surgical treatment

Inpatient and
Outpatient surgery especially with children

  • Outpatient removal of the adenoids
  • Tympanic drainage (middle ear)
  • Outpatient otoplasties
  • Skin operations of the face and neck

Operating range of the ENT department

Speciality:

  • Minimally invasive microsurgery of the nose and paranasal sinuses
  • Nose surgery without tamponade

(A tamponade of the inner nose can be dispensed with in most cases
by using microsurgical techniques in nasal septum surgery (nasal
cartilage operations). Even immediately after surgery the patient
can breathe well through the nose. During operations of the sinuses,
in many cases, a "self-dissolving" geltamponade is used which no
longer has to be removed.)

Advantages for the patient:

  • Less stressful process
  • Significantly faster recovery
  • Shortening of the duration of hospitalization to two days on
    average.

Laser therapy

A good alternative to conventional nasal surgery is laser treatment.
Laser therapy can often be very successfully applied to nasal
breathing obstructions that are caused by enlarged turbinates
(cavernous tissue). In our practice a diode laser of the latest type is
used. The turbinates are reduced in size permanently by rubbing
them with the laser probe under surface anesthesia without an
injection.

The procedure takes about 15 to 20 minutes and the patient can then immediately leave the practice. There are also as good as no restrictions or special precautions necessary immediately after such treatment. Complications are extremely rare and usually completely harmless.

The costs of such treatment are currently carried fully by health insurance. Other treatment options, including those of conventional surgical treatment, are still available. Intranasal respiratory problems, caused by a relevant deformation of the nasal septum, are not suited for laser treatment alone.

Further applications of the laser are:

  • Snoring problems
  • Allergy symptoms
  • Enlarged tonsils in toddlers
