Laser treatment

A good alternative to conventional nasal surgery is laser treatment. Laser therapy can often be very successfully applied to nasal breathing obstructions that are caused by enlarged turbinates (cavernous tissue). In our practice a diode laser of the latest type is used. The turbinates are reduced in size permanently by rubbing them with the laser probe under surface anesthesia without an injection.

The procedure takes about 15 to 20 minutes and the patient can then immediately leave the practice. There are also as good as no restrictions or special precautions necessary immediately after such treatment. Complications are extremely rare and mostly unproblematic.

The costs of such treatment are currently carried almost completely by health insurance. Other treatment options, including those of conventional surgical treatment, are still available. Intranasal respiratory problems, caused by a relevant deformation of the nasal septum, are not suited for laser treatment alone.

Further applications of the laser
  • Snoring problems
  • Allergy symptoms
  • Enlarged tonsils in toddlers
